Mac Bennett (activist)

Mac Bennett is a community leader and activist in South Carolina. He is the president and chief executive of the United Way of the Midland.[1][2]

Bennett, who as a young adult was awarded the opportunity of the University of South Carolina president's personal internship program, started to make his mark to improve community living in 1988, at the age of 30, when he helped to regulate beach development as a member of the South Carolina Coastal Council.[3]

Bennett went on to established a history of service with nonprofit organizations having served as the chairman and executive director of the Central Carolina Community Foundation,[4][5][6][7] and in working to improve the situation of homelessness through his leadership in the Midlands Housing Alliance.[8]
